One minute or less for data recovery

What a difference a year makes!  Just a year ago, more than 60% of large enterprises surveyed by The Register and Blocks & Files targeted cyber recovery times of up to 12 hours.  Today, AI is accelerating cyberattacks so dramatically that hours may be hours too late.  For enterprises, recovery must now be measured in minutes – or even seconds.  We speak with Eric Herzog, Chief Marketing Officer at Infinidat, a Lenovo company, about its ‘One Minute or Less’ guarantee and why speed is becoming the new imperative in cyber resilience.

“During Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2026, we’re putting ultra-fast cyber recovery in the spotlight.  Cybercriminals are increasingly using AI to make their attacks faster, bigger and more sophisticated.  Just look at ransomware: according to
CrowdStrike’s Global Threat Report 2026, attacks that took an average of nine days to execute in 2021 can now be completed in under 30 minutes with the help of AI.  That’s a staggering acceleration – around 100 times faster in just five years.  And it really brings home why businesses can no longer afford to think about cyber recovery in terms of hours or days.”

“High-end enterprises need the recovery of business-critical data to be fast and guaranteed.  At Infinidat, a Lenovo company, we enable enterprises to recover from cyberattacks, including ransomware and malware, in 60 seconds or less – regardless of dataset size.  No other storage vendor offers this near-instantaneous recovery.  This is the unique value proposition that Infinidat offers.”

“Our Infinidat’s InfiniBox® enterprise storage platforms feature a guaranteed Recovery Time Objective (RTO) of one minute or less to restore data from immutable snapshots, regardless of the overall dataset size.  In a live demo earlier this year, Infinidat demonstrated the recovery of 9.8 petabytes (PB) of data in four seconds.  This capability is part of the InfiniSafe® cyber storage software suite that delivers instantaneous immutable data protection and rapid ransomware and cyberattack recovery.”

“In the wake of a ransomware or malware attack, the Global Fortune 500 and other large enterprises can fully restore availability to its dataset inside a 60-second window.  This “window” of cyber time is changing expectations in the enterprise market and among service providers about recovery of a known good copy of data.”

“Awareness is increasing dramatically about this fact, and it should be part of every conversation about recovering from a cyberattack.  Cybersecurity Awareness Month shines a bright spotlight on it, but it’s not just a fad or a flash in the pan.  It is actually one of the most important elements of an effective strategy to address AI-driven cyberattacks.”

“With Infinidat, there’s no need to go through the traditional data restoration process of copying data back from a backup target to production storage – a process that can take hours or even days when dealing with petabyte-scale datasets on legacy storage systems.  Instead, recovery is as simple as a point-and-click operation that mounts a locked, immutable snapshot directly back into the production environment, getting you back up and running much faster.”

“For a snapshot to be recovered in under a minute, its integrity must be fully preserved.  InfiniSafe ensures this data integrity through immutable snapshots, logical air-gapping, a fenced forensic environment, and cyber detection.”

“Snapshots cannot be deleted, altered, or modified by any user or compromised admin credential before their predefined expiration date.  Logical air-gapping separates the management and data planes, so that a “gap” exists, ensuring secure data management.”

“InfiniSafe provides an integrated, isolated fenced forensic environment, which is an isolated “sandbox” in the storage layer.  The fenced forensic environment is where potential candidates are tested to be sure you are recovering a “known good copy” of the data.  It prevents an enterprise from inadvertently re-infecting production storage infrastructure or recovering compromised, malware or ransomware-infected data during the recovery process.”

“Critical to this last step before restoring data is cyber detection, which is an automated capability that checks whether a snapshot of data is in a “known good” version before the final one-minute production recovery is fully completed.”

“InfiniSafe Cyber Detection adds another layer of protection to Infinidat’s InfiniBox and InfiniBox™ SSA platforms by scanning immutable snapshots to spot ransomware and malware.  The idea is simple: the sooner you detect a threat, the less damage it can do.  InfiniSafe works at the “speed of compute” to quickly preserve data before ransomware has a chance to spread.  This helps keep data loss to a minimum, limits the impact of an attack, and gives organizations a much smaller window of exposure when a cyberattack happens.”

“Traditional backup and snapshot schedules leave gaps of hours between protection points. But InfiniSafe Automated Cyber Protection (ACP) closes this gap by shifting from scheduled protection to event-driven protection.  And all of this is easily orchestrated to ensure your protected data can be validated and ready to recover.”

“As we recognize Cybersecurity Awareness Month, we are reminded that rapid recovery is now measured in minutes and seconds in the age of AI.  One minute or less ─ the hallmark of Infinidat’s unprecedented speed of recovery, guaranteed, after a cyberattack against an enterprise, with business continuity on the line!"
