Infinidat comments on critical workloads

The recent massive AWS and even more recently Azure outage put into perspective how dependent we all are on a broad ecosystem of apps and workloads that leverage these services.  We talk to Bill Basinas, Senior Director of Product Marketing, Infinidat about how critical workloads are now shifting back to on-premise solutions.

“We provide the biggest and most demanding global enterprises with the best enterprise storage solutions, aimed specifically at their most critical workloads.  We have seen the shift of these critical workloads back to on-premises solutions, usually a private cloud that can interface with the public cloud – a hybrid multi-cloud solution.”

“In these configurations the most critical workloads are essential to running a global enterprise and must deliver the best in performance, 100% availability, and cyber resilience for, dare I use the overused term, workload and application repatriation.  This wasn’t initially being done because of what happened with the AWS and Azure outage, but it was because companies learned (the hard way) that the cost of doing business “in the cloud” didn’t make sense.

“Companies have added up the costs to host mission-critical and highly transactional and diverse workloads in the cloud and realized how very expensive and complex it is to do that at scale in the cloud.  Maintaining performance is also problematic and, although availability wasn’t always high on the list, it certainly is now!”

“At Infinidat, our enterprise storage solutions are built exactly around addressing all the issues that are found to exist in the cloud.  We have never strayed from our objective of being that ROCK SOLID centrepiece of the data centre that houses a company’s most critical asset – is their data.”

“In the cloud, you cannot get 100% guarantee availability, just read the T&C’s – you can pay more to hopefully get a couple more 9’s.  Performance guarantees … yeah, probably not.  Where they didn’t or don’t do these things, we doubled down; we continued to enhance our product capabilities; we added industry-leading cyber resilience with our InfiniSafe® cyber stack which powers our Next Generation Cyber FOCUSED data protection and recovery strategy.  We added significantly to our performance and capacity capabilities with our InfiniBox™ SSA G4 and InfiniBox® G4 platforms, adding 2x the performance of our previous generation and providing our customers with performance guarantees, even when consolidating workloads.”

“As a result, our customers can stay focused on business outcomes, rather than being focused on scrambling to overcome an outage.  We increased capacity across the board and added new QLC-based systems as well.  This is why consolidation happens within so many of the organizations that utilize our solutions.  We bring fantastic ease of use and effective use of power and floorspace, enabling our customers to easily see the returns on their investments.”

“Yes, we talk highly about our solutions, and we should, as we put all our efforts into making sure our solutions are exactly what we say they are.  But so do our customers!  We are proud to have been named a Gartner® Peer Insights™ Customers’ Choice seven times.  This is important because it is not analysts’ ranking capabilities, it’s real users, like you, who experience the capabilities of our solutions every day in running their businesses – and since our customers are some of the biggest in the world, including 26% of the Fortune 50 – we have to prove this every day.”

“This goes beyond products sitting in the data centre.  It is about providing a “White Glove” experience to every customer, whether big or small.  Our customers benefit from a highly experienced team of sales and technical systems engineers, through our support and technical advisors (TA’s) that every customer has at no additional cost.  That’s why our customers rave about us – the reviews speak for themselves” ... 2025 GartnerPeer Insights Customers’ Choice in the Gartner Peer Insights
