Huge benefits from BMC tool, finds Forrester study

The latest Total Economic Impact TM (TEI) study conducted by Forrester finds that organizations which transform their mainframe application development environments using BMC’s AMI DevX saw a 217% return on investment (ROI), with payback in under six months.   For a composite organization with 300 mainframe developers, the study shows returns of $26.2 million in total benefits over three years and $18.0 million in net present value (NPV).

Additionally, the Forrester TEI study shows organizations using BMC AMI DevX significantly accelerate development workflows, cutting release time by 96%, increasing frequency by 50% without compromising quality, reducing mean time to restore service by 98%, and minimizing application downtime by 99%.

Forrester’s research finds that the mainframe platform is here to stay, but staffing challenges remain a concern.  As mainframe developers seek retirement and junior developers gravitate toward other platforms, having in place the right developer tooling such as BMC AMI DevX’s integrated software platform organizations can mitigate these workforce demographic trends by providing mainframe development teams with modern application development and DevOps capabilities, giving a developer experience that attracts and retains new talent.

Forrester’s findings show how using BMC AMI DevX builds dynamic, multi-generational teams where both new and experienced developers thrive.  By aligning with current software practices, they’re making the platform more accessible, collaborative, and attractive to today’s talent.

Tools like BMC AMI DevX helps organizations maximize mainframe value by boosting efficiency, enabling smarter development, and attracting top talent through intuitive, automated, and integrated workflows.  Alongside automation, AI, and cloud-native practices, combining intuitive tooling with a developer-centric culture allows organizations to not only accelerate technical performance but also reshape how teams collaborate, innovate, and view the mainframe as a simplified, modern platform for growth.
