Geopolitics tops cyber agenda at Infosec
Geopolitics is topping the cyber agenda as Rory Stewart OBE and NCSC’s Paul Chichester headlines day two of this year’s Infosecurity Europe at ExCeL London running 3-5 June 2025.
At 10:05am on Wednesday 4th June, Rory Stewart OBE will focus on the growing connection between geopolitics and cybersecurity with his keynote, Shifting Sands: Geopolitics, Threat and the Future – highly topic as digital warfare tactics become increasingly sophisticated. With nations shifting alliances, with some forging closer ties while others drift into increasing isolation, this realignment has direct consequences for cybersecurity, as the nature and origin of threats become more difficult to predict. Stewart will examine these developments and offer a perspective on how they could evolve in the coming years.
Continuing the event’s exploration of geopolitics and cyber defence, Paul Chichester, Director of Operations, NCSC, will also speak on the Keynote Stage at 12:20 on Tuesday 3 June for the session titled The Cyber Cold War? Geopolitics Driving Cyber Threat, offering insights from the frontline of UK national defence. Chichester will share intelligence on the tactics evolving across regions, the emergence of new international actors, and the strategic targeting of UK infrastructure.
“The relationship between geopolitics and cybersecurity is a growing concern and should be a topic for discussion in every boardroom,” says Brad Maul3-ffinch, Event Director, Infosecurity Europe. “These sessions will provide our attendees with vital knowledge on the threats shaping our industry. Both keynotes will be essential to grasping the reality of these threats and the future of cybersecurity.”
Adding even more weight to the programme, Infosecurity Europe is proud to welcome back several of its Hall of Fame alumni, who will chair the Keynote Stage throughout the week. These individuals are among the most trusted and experienced figures in cybersecurity, known for translating complex developments into meaningful insight for security practitioners.
• On Tuesday 3 June, the stage will be chaired by Graham Cluley, independent security expert, podcast host, and one of the industry’s most enduring voices. Cluley brings a rare mix of technical depth and engaging clarity, having worked with global law enforcement and developed some of the earliest antivirus software.
• On Wednesday 4 June, social engineering authority Jenny Radcliffe, known as The People Hacker, will bring her expertise in human behaviour and psychological security to the stage, drawing on a career dedicated to demystifying the human side of risk.
• On Thursday 5 June, Becky Pinkard, MD of Global Cyber Operations and long-standing security strategist, will chair the day’s sessions, helping guide the conversation around resilience, operations, and cyber leadership.
Pinkard will announce the inductions of Ciaran Martin into the Infosecurity Europe Hall of Fame. As the founding Chief Executive of the UK’s NCSC, Ciaran played a transformative role in reshaping the UK’s cyber defence landscape and remains a globally respected authority on cyber policy and strategy.
This will be followed by an Open Mic session with Hall of Fame alumni, including 2024 inductee, Stephen Khan, Chief Business Information Security Officer at Cognizant Technology Services. This session offers a unique opportunity to ask pressing questions and gain valuable insight from some of the industry’s top leaders.
